Colors Continued!

Hello Seedlings families.  The seedlings have been very busy this week. On Tuesday we came back to a new mirrored table. After a quick risk assessment on safely using the table, the seedlings began to explore. So far they have only been exploring their own reflections in the table.  This is especially exciting for our seedlings, as they love mirrors and investigating different faces and body movements in their own reflection. The table will now give them a different perspective, from below their line of sight.

This week we continued our exploration of color. We made different colored slime and explored what happened when we combined the colors together. We noticed if we mixed the red, yellow, and blue together sometimes the color we got was dark and black or brown. We also used eye droppers and watercolor to combine the colors and see what happens when they are mixed. The seedlings discovered they could make green when they combine the blue and yellow watercolor.  In addition to exploring color within the classroom the seedlings have expanded their interest to the playground and on our nature walk. On the playground the seedlings climbed onto the table to look over the fence. As they watched the cars drive by they called out the colors they saw. “Red car!” “Blue car!” “White truck! Big white truck!”. They even pointed out trees, birds, and other things they noticed over the fence, paying careful attention to the colors they saw.  On our nature walk we observed the colors of the trees and plants we saw in addition to the various colors of the cars parked on our street or driving by. The seedlings were so excited to call out the various colors they saw.
